SHIPPER GUIDE · 4 MIN READ
Finish packaging before the ready time
Use packaging suited to the product and handling involved. Pallets should be stable, with freight secured and no unreported overhang. Protect vulnerable edges and identify handling restrictions. A driver’s arrival is not the time to finish assembling the load.
Label and count the handling units
Mark the destination and shipment reference clearly. Reconcile pallet or piece counts with the shipping documents. If several orders travel together, make their identification understandable to the receiving team.
Prepare the loading area
Confirm the dock or loading method, available equipment and shipping hours. Keep an onsite contact reachable. Tell dispatch about gate procedures, appointments, restricted vehicle access or required protective equipment before arrival.
Have the documents ready
Prepare the bill of lading or shipping document with accurate parties, counts and freight description. For cross-border shipments, provide the documents requested by the customs broker. Do not place the only copy of an essential document inside inaccessible freight.
Report changes immediately
If the load, weight, availability or destination changes, contact dispatch before pickup. Record the actual freight handed over and note visible issues through the agreed process. Retain shipping records so questions at delivery can be resolved.
